We're proud of our hall and won't let just anyone hire it!!  We do need some information on each hirer and how they intend to use the hall before fully authorising bookings.  Also for the contract hire rate (very much an "at cost" rate) to be used the committee has to ensure that the organisation meets our charity objectives. So while you can check the dates and submit a booking request online - and it will then be reserved - it won't be fully confirmed until we are sure you are a genuine hirer, and for one-off hires we will usually insist on advanced payment. Village Halls in Hertfordshire have been targeted by people wanting to hold raves - with the halls being left devastated as a result - clearly we don't want that to happen to us!! We have also had negative experiences locally with 18th and 21st birthday parties - and will rarely accept bookings for these (exceptional assurances will be required!!).
